One of my least favorite are the social conflict theories, although they are probably the easiest to explain. These theories, such as conflict, strain, anomie, etc., come from individuals not having access to resources, so they commit crime and legitimize it through convincing people that they are the have nots and are stealing from the haves. If crime were dependent on conflict theories, then crime would be able to be eliminated. Given that crime is not, I don't think that there is much to them. Just because I grow up in poverty does not mean that I will commit crime to achieve the same status of others. Part of status is acceptance and we have seen what happens there. Just look at all the rappers and what not. They have been raking in money for years, but have not gained the acceptance in wealthy communities that newly rich people have acheived. It is a matter of how they act and in which circles they wish to run. You will probably never see Bill Gates or one of the Walton heirs hanging out with snoop dawg or p-ditty.
